Rocky Fork Ranch Resort FAQ’s
Q. How far is the lake?
A. The northern most finger of the lake (Salt Fork Lake) is only about 2 ½ miles from the Captain’s club down Rocky Fork Road. There is a small parking lot there and a launching area for canoes or small fishing boats. Other access points inside the park range from 5-10 miles away from Rocky Fork Ranch. Maps are available at the Captain’s Club. Salt Fork State Park is the largest state park at nearly 20,000 acres, the lake being 3,000 acres. In 2007 the resort completed development on the 4½ Pottawattamie pond just ½ mile from the Captain’s Club. The pond plays host to catch and release fishing, pedal boats and canoes as well as summer concerts.

A. There is a booklet of phone numbers to local attractions, eateries, shopping, etc. in every cabin and a list of those is available at the Captain’s Club front desk and at the Crows Nest. Local road maps are also available at these locations. Also, most staff members can give you directions upon request.
Q. What are the camping rules and regulations for sites?
A. The camping guidelines for the resort are very comprehensive. Copies of the Resort guidelines are available at the front desk or business office.
Q. Do you sell propane? If so, where?
A. Yes, the resort does sell and dispense propane for approved containers up to 100 lb. tank size. We can also fill tanks on most Motorized units. The Resort reserves the right to refuse filling any tank(s) that we deem potentially unsafe. Members are asked to pre-purchase propane at the Captain’s Club front desk and obtain a receipt; the propane is dispensed at the maintenance yard across from the O and P camping sections. Refer to a campground map for this location or a staff member will be happy to direct you there.
Q. When does boating, canoeing, horseback riding, and paintball season open?
A. These special recreation activities are dependent on weather. While each activity has its own unique requirements, some of the controlling factors are: water and air temperature, muddy conditions, staffing, insurance, licenses, and equipment readiness. We try to open these activities as early as possible each year. Remember, even after opened, these activities can be closed due to weather conditions. Members may inquire at the Rocky Fork Recreation Center, the front desk, or the Activities Director’s office for current operations status. We generally try to have all these operations underway by May 15th each year.
